Health & Safety site surveys
A Health & Safety Site Survey is an organisation's internal systematic evaluation to check safe operations and practices are in place on site, workplaces and facilities. It is an opportunity to suggest improvements on safety issues and confirm intended safety regulations are being complied with.
Veritech will always conduct their detailed site survey prior to any contract engagement.
A Health & Safety site survey is a comprehensive assessment of a workplace or construction site to ensure that it meets safety standards and regulations. The information gathered typically includes
- Identification of Hazards
- Risk Assessment
- Safety Procedures and Compliance
- Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Emergency Preparedness
- Fire Safety
- Workplace Safety Training
- Machinery and Equipment Safety
- Record Keeping and Documentation
- Signage and Warning Labels
- Housekeeping and Cleanliness
- Health Monitoring
- Welfare Facilities
- Traffic and Pedestrian Safety
- Contractor and Visitor Safety
The survey froms the basis of the Risk Assessments and method statements, ensuring contractors and visitors are aware of and adhere to the site’s safety regulations.
The final report is sent to the customer, which sometimes includes recommendations for corrective actions, prioritising risks, and providing a timeline for when any issues should be addressed.
Veritech’s transport manager has a specific responsibility for managing driving at work, The Vehicle Management policy coincides with our existing Health and Safety policy.
The transport manager routinely undertakes, records and acts on the findings of risk assessments dealing with all aspects of driving at work including driver safety, vehicle safety and journey planning. He also ensures that every incident involving any vehicle driven on behalf of the company is recorded and that collective information is regularly analysed for action take to reduce recurrence
Driver safety
Veritech issues a driver's handbook that includes road safety guidance and sets out individual driver responsibilities, in support of the company's policies and procedures, e.g. what to do in the event of an incident.
The transport manager also ensures that all employees driving on behalf of the company are initially vetted, inducted and regularly assessed, to establish that they are properly licenced, competent, suitably trained and medically fit to do so.
Vehicle safety
