The Contract
Veritech have been working in partnership with SWATCH UK at their repair centre in Southampton since April 2009. As their requirements for security are undisclosed, we continue to offer a nondisclosed bespoke solution that aid their efforts from a security perspective. Whilst the role of the operations team and officer working on the contract over the life of the contract has not varied, we provide over 1 officer at night to fully secure the location. We have a team of security officers who are fully inducted to the site and available to fill any request for any extra security requirements should the need arise

The Challenge
The site is positioned alongside the busy A33 in Southampton. As a result of this, keeping a low-profile during patrols and out of the public eye proves to be a challenge at times. Due to the location of the site this makes the site a prime target for terrorists and protesters looking to gain maximum publicity.
The Solution
The team use Guard Touring devices (diester guns) for all foot patrols, which is logged for the client’s piece of mind. These devices are utilised during all patrols in and out of the building as well as the car park areas. The operative checks all personnel entering the site, ensuring appropriate identification is shown on entry. This effective process ensures only authorised persons enter. The team are also responsible for the monitoring of the CCTV covering the site, and regular patrols to ensure that perimeter security and site safety is maintained. We have also have fully trained CCTV operatives in our control centre, first aiders and incident controllers. In addition to this, we have developed training modules for staff in non-accredited skills, such as COVID-19 - Coronavirus Essentials, Slips, Trips and Falls and Health & Safety.

Benefits to Swatch
With demands on site, the contract has to work closely with SWATCH and its members of staff, to ensure smooth transitions with the access control on site and the local community who live and work in the area. This involves interacting with the SWATCH staff, Police and local community and business groups in the area. Our officers are the first point of contact for some of these groups and the individuals. We have established a network of both formal and informal communication channels to assist in our interactions with these key stakeholders and our client’s representatives. We are constantly striving to make improvements towards Security, Safety and Communications, we pride ourselves on being proactive at all times and where possible involve the client in our discussions and proposals.
