Mental Health Awareness Week 2025 | 13–19 May

Mental-Health-Awareness-Week

This week is a powerful reminder that mental health matters — and it’s something we all have. Whether you’re leading a team, supporting colleagues, or managing your own challenges, mental wellbeing is just as important as physical health.

At Veritech Security, we are committed to breaking the stigma, starting meaningful conversations, and making mental health a year-round priority. Small actions — like taking a walk, checking in with a colleague, or simply taking time to breathe — can make a big difference.

As part of this commitment, all members of our management team are trained in mental health awareness. We’ve now extended this training to all security officers working at educational establishments and student accommodation sites.

For the past five years, we’ve had our own Mental Health First Aider available to provide up-to-date help and guidance as part of our staff support programme. Having a trained Mental Health First Aider in the business is essential — and we actively encourage our team members to pursue recognised Level 3 qualifications to deepen their knowledge and confidence in this vital role.

Two well-established qualification routes include:

1. RSPH Level 3 Award in Mental Health First Aid (via MHFA England)
Accessible after completing an MHFA England Mental Health First Aider course or refresher, followed by an additional exam. Successful candidates can join the Association of Mental Health First Aiders, gaining access to:
• The MHFAider® Support App, featuring 24/7 text support, a national database of services, and self-care insights
• The MHFA England Online Learning Hub, with course manuals and MHFAider® guides
• Real-life insights, including lived experiences from people managing mental health conditions
• Online networking opportunities, including quarterly webinars to support MHFAiders
• Monthly newsletters with the latest updates from the community

2. St John Ambulance – Level 3 Award in Mental Health First Aid (RQF)
This is offered alongside their Certified Mental Health First Aider course. A formal, invigilated assessment must be completed separately to achieve the Level 3 qualification, in line with national testing guidelines.

Let’s keep moving, talking, and supporting each other — because no one should have to face mental health struggles alone.
